Come One, Come All! The Harmon Tap Room will open it’s doors to the public Monday, May 24th. Stop by and sample our menu of fabulous panninis, amazing salads and Sicilian style pizza. It’s simple, fresh and pairs well with Harmon Ales. If you are short on time, we also have Harmon beer to-go in half gallon growlers and 22 oz. bottles.
We invited a few of our friends over this weekend to test the place out. Everyone had a blast!

Our NASA-approved grain silo arrived yesterday! This is the largest single component of the brewery and we’re excited to finally have it in place. The Tap Room is preparing for launch!
Most of the other pieces inside are finished and just need some final preparation. The kitchen and bar are done. We pulled all of the chairs out of the back room so we could finish up that space. The back room will have more seating and will be available to reserve for private parties. (The shopping cart is standard construction equipment, in case you were wondering.)
The front of the house is looking great. Stop by and peek in the windows if you have a chance. It’s on St. Helens Ave, just below The Hub .
Construction of the Beer Garden will continue after the Tap Room opens. Are you excited yet?

We’re nearly done. The floors and walls are painted, the tables are ready, the kitchen is being organized. A new slab is awaiting the grain silo that arrives soon. But perhaps most importantly, we’re awaiting a few final inspections before we begin the first test-brew next week! The boiler is already online and fired up.
With the indoor portion of the Tap Room and Brewery nearing completion, we’re taking aim at Phase 2: the outdoor beer garden. Robert Horner is the artist/architect behind the design which will transform this space:

It will be a relaxing, comfortable spot to enjoy a few fine beers and a light meal. And you’ll be able to rent the garden for private parties. Notice with the gate how we’re rolling a little of The HUB‘s bike theme down the hill, too. (If you didn’t know, Harmon Brewing loves bikes.)
While the Tap Room will be opening in a few short weeks, the beer garden will come together another month or so afterwards. Check back soon for details about our Grand Opening!

Much of the interior painting of the Tap Room is done and we’re just weeks away from our soft opening. The enormous fir slab table tops of our communal-seating area have been mated with their steel bases. These are not your average pub tables, folks. We mean business.
The City of Tacoma has given their nod to proceed with formal design of the Tap Room’s outdoor beer garden. Robert M. Horner, artist for Tacoma’s Urban Waters project, will be providing the vision to transform the adjacent gravel lot into a comfortable dining area complete with growing hop vines and art installations amidst a 20′ tall grain silo. We’re really excited to reclaim this empty space as part of our brewery oasis here in the Stadium district.
Speaking of brewing, we’re busy stockpiling new kegs to contain all of the beer we’ll soon be crafting. Not only will we offer all of our flagship beers and seasonals by the pint or pitcher, the Tap Room will be Harmon Brewing’s primary location for purchasing beer-to-go, whether that be in 22 oz bottles, half-gallon growler jugs, or kegs.

With the new Harmon Tap Room and Brewery nearing completion, and plans to take our beers to tap handles throughout the Puget Sound region, we felt it was time to update the Harmon brand. Tacoma’s creative design powerhouse Rusty George Creative spearheaded the effort with a soup-to-nuts approach, which is showcased at our newly redesigned website harmonbrewingco.com. You’ll be seeing this new look resonate at our three dining facilities, as well as on our 22 oz. bottles of Harmon Ale and (soon) tap handles at your local watering hole.
While the signs and the labels are new, we will still be focusing on brewing the tasty, award-winning, craft beer that we’re known for. Our new brewery at 204 St. Helens will focus production on our most popular flagship ales. With every passing day we get closer to firing up that new 30 bbl system, which will churn out unheralded volumes of Point Defiance IPA and Browns Point ESB for your consumption and enjoyment.
Our Brewer and Brewery Construction Guru, Bill Lundeen, says it’s all “Go, go, go!” right now. The piping and electrical are coming along nicely and there’s already bit of color on some of the Tap Room walls. Among other details, we’re currently awaiting the arrival of the auger that will move grain from our outside silo into the brewhouse.
Most recently we brought in (and very quickly set down) two enormous, 4″ thick wooden slabs. These salvaged fir tablets of solid timber were milled at Wood Wise in Olalla, owned by Joe Neal. They will become the tops for two long bench tables in our main seating area so that you’ll be able to easily get the whole gang together to share pitchers and laughs.
It appears our quality control folks have already tested them for table-dancing properties! Keep checking back here for more updates as we get closer to opening day. Until then, leave us a comment to let us know what you think of the new designs. Cheers!

It’s been two years since we opened our doors in the Stadium District and we would like to thank everyone who has made The HUB a fixture of the community. Let’s celebrate our success together!
The party starts at 4pm with All Night Happy Hour as well as some complimentary food for the early birds – our signature pizzas, hummus, meatballs, and smoked salmon and bruscehttta. Later on, Myles Crew – a great acoustic guitar and vocolist – will kick off a FREE show at 6pm. If it’s anything like our first birthday bash, The HUB is the place to be this Friday. We’ll see you there ~

This coming Saturday, April 10, the 77th annual Tacoma Grand Floral Parade will march past the doors of the Harmon in beautiful downtown Tacoma. The parade starts at 10:15am, but parade watchers line-up hours earlier along Pacific Avenue to make sure they’ll get a good view of the daffodil-adorned floats, marching bands, and community groups that take part in this county-wide tradition.
Also on April 10, The Harmon is hosting the First Annual Rod and Custom Car Show from 9am – 3pm in the Washington State History Museum parking lot across from the Harmon. There will be plenty of horsepower and chrome for everyone!
After the parade, we’ll kick off the the 6th Annual Gray Sky Blues Festival from 12pm – 5pm. Four great bands are scheduled and (as always) there’s no cover!
Three excellent reasons to visit us downtown on Saturday…and did we mention we brew award winning beer? We’ll see you there.

The Tacoma Runners are kicking off April with a Dress Run from The HUB as part of their Thursday Beer Run series. We’re co-sponsoring the event with tasty pizzas for the pack and some prizes for the best dressed runners, but it might also be a good evening to stop by the restaurant simply to witness this spectacle of fitness.
